13/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – Almost half of Europeans trust the European Union (49%), the highest level recorded since spring 2008, according to a Eurobarometer survey published on Monday 13 September. Trust in the European institutions remains higher than trust in national governments (37%) or national parliaments (35%). Confidence is highest in Portugal (73%), Ireland (71%) and Lithuania (69%). On the other hand, the rate of mistrust is the highest in Greece (62%) and France (50%). Compared to the last survey conducted in winter 2020, the biggest drop in confidence was recorded in the Netherlands (49%, -12 points), Luxembourg (48%, -7 points) and Slovakia (43%, -7%).
