13/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 13 September, the European Commission approved - under EU State aid rules - EUR 7 million in public support from the Hungarian Government and the Municipality of Debrecen for the owner of Debrecen International Airport in Hungary. The aid is intended to finance an investment project aimed at ensuring the airport’s continued and safe operation. The project comprises the purchase of two firefighting vehicles, the purchase of firefighting equipment, the planning and construction of firefighting barracks, the licence and construction plans of a new runway, the development of IT network infrastructure and the improvement of passenger security control. The Hungarian authorities will finance the part of the investment costs that is not covered by the revenues generated by the owner of Debrecen airport. (LC)
