On Wednesday 28 July, the European Commission published its decision setting out the allocation tables for free emission allowances for the period 2021-2025 to be entered into the European Union’s transaction log.
The decision concerns the lists of installations covered by the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) that are eligible for free allocation for the 2021-2025 allocation period.
Covering most Member States participating in the ETS, the national allocation tables thus include, country-by-country, the final quantity of free emission allowances to be allocated per installation for each year of the allocation period (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).
On the basis of this decision, Member States will follow their national procedures for issuing free allowances.
