30/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission opened a consultation on Friday 30 July on a draft delegated regulation in relation to the Directive on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States concerning the making available on the market of radio equipment. The objective is to ensure an adequate level of security for internet-connected and portable radio equipment at the time of market introduction in order to enhance the cyber security of all connected objects (including cameras, smartphones, computers, etc.). At one stage, horizontal legislation was envisaged, but in comitology it was decided to opt for a delegated act in order to avoid the sluggishness associated with co-decision.
