30/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 30 July, the European Commission published information about an initiative to review EU rules on the harmonisation of river information services. These rules, which relate to inland navigation, are intended to support the management of traffic and transport while ensuring safety and efficiency. This initiative, which is part of the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, should, among other things, address the shortcomings of the current rules and streamline the way in which technical standards are set. Digital technology – taking into account recent developments – will also become a focus of the discussion, said the Commission.
