22/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) condemned Poland in the case of Reczkowicz v Poland (application no. 43447/19) on Thursday 22 July for the reform of its judicial system. The Court found that the Polish reform violated Article 6, section 1, of the European Convention on Human Rights on the grounds that the right to a fair trial was violated. This is the third condemnation in 3 months. The Court once again denounces the influence of the legislative and executive powers on the judiciary, particularly with regard to the disciplinary chamber of the Polish Supreme Court, created by the judicial reform. Poland was ordered to pay €15,000 to the lawyer who brought the case before the ECHR for non-pecuniary damage and €420 for costs incurred. To consult the ECHR judgment: https://bit.ly/3BwURXi (PH)
