22/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – 53% of adults living in the EU were overweight in 2019, reveal data updated on Wednesday 21 July by Eurostat. The lowest share of overweight and obese people was recorded among 18-24 year olds (25%), while 65-74 year olds had the highest share (66%). Women are also less affected than men, notes Eurostat. Furthermore, the institution notes a decrease in the proportion of overweight people as the level of education rises: “while the percentage of overweight adults among those with low education level stood at 59% in 2019, it was [...] 44% for adults with a high education level”, it says.
