02/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 1 July the European Commission launched a public consultation on the new framework for urban mobility and sustainable transport. As part of its urban mobility package and with the aim of achieving the EU’s climate neutrality target by 2050, this initiative focuses on proposals for measures to encourage Member States to develop safe, accessible, inclusive, affordable, smart and zero-emission urban transport systems. The initiative also includes a section dedicated to the lessons to be learned from the health crisis in the field of public transport in order to “promote a transition to a climate-neutral economy”, the Commission stresses.
