16/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 15 June, the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) adopted, with 29 votes in favour and 3 abstentions, a series of oral questions on the measures put in place within the European institutions to combat sexual harassment and assault. In particular, MEPs question the measures that make up the anti-harassment strategies of the Commission and other EU institutions and agencies, as well as the mandatory nature of the training offered in these institutions to prevent sexual harassment. The training provided in this respect in the European Parliament, for example, “is not mandatory, and the majority of MEPs have not yet taken it, regrets the FEMM Committee, which therefore advocates the adoption of a “strong public stance” on the issue.
