Robert Brieger to become the new Chairman of EU Military Committee

20/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The EU Chiefs of Staff (CHOD) on Wednesday 19 May selected the Austrian Chief of Staff, General Robert Brieger, as the new Chairman of the EU Military Committee from 1 June 2022. He will replace Italian General Claudio Graziano, who has been in the post since November 2018 (see EUROPE 11900/23). During their meeting, the Chiefs of Staff discussed the EU battle groups, the 'Strategic Compass', CSDP military missions and operations and cooperation between the EU and NATO. (CG)
