20/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 20 May, more than 30 EU professional associations (including AnimalHealthEurope; the European Organisation of Agricultural, Rural and Forestry Contractors; the European Association of Sugar Manufacturers; the European Council of Young Farmers; and Copa-Cogeca) presented a joint declaration calling for a comprehensive impact assessment on the ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy. “Such a study was promised by Vice-President Frans Timmermans. However, although this was promised on many occasions [...], we now know that such [an] assessment will not be carried out,” the statement indicated. The signatories consider the individual studies on the different objectives of the strategy to be insufficient. In their opinion, “It is only by cumulating and cross-checking the different targets proposed in the strategy that one can realise the real challenges posed by the strategy”. (LC)
