04/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 3 May, the European Commission opened a public consultation on its draft regulation establishing a European Health Data Space. The institution had already collected around 100 comments on the subject during an initial consultation on its roadmap (see EUROPE 12635/9). This draft regulation, expected by the end of 2021, is presented by the Commission as “an important building block of the European Health Union” (see EUROPE 12613/10) and is one of the priorities of its Data Strategy (see EUROPE 12429/5). This second consultation, which will end on 26 July, will therefore focus on “fostering a genuine single market” for digital health services and products and on the use of health data for the provision of care, but also for research and regulatory decisions.
