20/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 19 April, the EU Council adopted the ‘Justice’ and ‘Rights and Values’ programmes for the 2021-2027 period (see EUROPE 12030/12), which will be eligible for up to €1.8 billion. Partial agreements on the broad outlines of the programmes had already been reached by the co-legislators in March 2019 (see EUROPE 12207/9, 12209/6) while the budgetary aspects were settled in December 2020 (see EUROPE 12626/6). The ‘Rights and Values’ programme - renamed by the co-legislators as ‘Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values’ - has a maximum overall budget of €1.55 billion (a budget of €641.7 million in current prices and an additional allocation of up to €912 million).
