20/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation on the ‘INSPIRE’ Directive (2007/2/EC) on access to and the interoperability of Spatial Information launched by the European Commission on 19 April is open until 12 July. The Commission is required to evaluate, in 2022, the effectiveness, relevance and added value of this directive, which established an online portal for European public authorities to share geospatial environmental data. Input from all stakeholders is sought to help the institution take stock of the experience gained in implementing the directive and the consistency of this legislation with other instruments, such as the directives on public access to environmental information (2003/4/EC) and on open data and the re-use of public sector information (2019/1024).
