20/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting with the Palestinian minister for foreign affairs and expatriates, Dr Riyad Al Malki, on Monday, 19 April, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell reiterated the EU’s “strong support” for holding elections across the entire Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem (see EUROPE 12690/21). “Inclusive, accountable and functioning democratic Palestinian institutions, based on respect for the rule of law and human rights, are vital for the two-state solution,” stressed Mr Borrell. According to him, the EU is willing to do all that it can to support this important process, including through its continued assistance to the Central Elections Commission (see EUROPE 12638/17).
