Almost nine out of ten respondents (88%) consider it “important” that Europe becomes more committed to equal opportunities and access to the labour market, fair working conditions and social protection and inclusion, according to a Eurobarometer survey published on Monday 1 March. Of these 88%, almost half (42%) think it is even “very important”.
More than seven out of ten respondents (71%) consider the lack of social rights to be a “serious problem” at present. Nearly three-quarters of Europeans (74%) believe more decisions should be taken at EU level on promoting “decent” working conditions in the EU. On the contrary, almost one in five (19%) think that there should be fewer decisions at European level in this area.
This survey comes 2 days before the presentation of an action plan on the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights (see other news).
