Package Travel Directive, European Commission identifies potential problems of non-compliance in EU

01/03/2021 (Agence Europe)On Monday 1 March, the European Commission published a report on the application of the package travel and linked travel arrangements Directive (2015/2302), which has been in force since July 2018. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, this report identifies potential problems of non-compliance in all Member States, concerning definitions, pre-contractual information obligations, travellers’ rights regarding cancellations and related charges, consequences of non-performance or improper performance of the contract, obligations of professionals, and liability for booking errors. On the basis of this report, and as foreseen in the Consumer Agenda 2021-2025 (see EUROPE 12663/21), the Commission will carry out a deeper analysis by 2022, further evaluating whether the current regulatory framework for package travel continues to ensure robust and comprehensive consumer protection at all times.
