01/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – With 70 billion euros invested in 2020, Member States have accelerated their investments in cohesion policy, bringing total spending to 251 billion euros, the European Commission welcomed in a press release on Monday 1 March. This corresponds to 52% of the 482 billion euros planned for the 2014-2020 programming period. This is good news for the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform, Elisa Ferreira, who hopes that by 2023, the end of the programming period, the funding provided under the cohesion policy will have been fully exploited. Sweden, Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, Portugal and the Netherlands are the best performing Member States in terms of expenditure. For more information: http://bit.ly/33QIC96 (PH)
