14/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The proposal for ‘country by country reporting’ (CBCR), which would require companies to make public certain accounting data, will be back on the agenda of the national experts of the Council of the European Union on Friday 22 January, during the meeting of the working group on corporate law. In its work programme, the Portuguese Presidencyof the EU Council undertook to try to “create the conditions” for a political agreement between the Member States on this issue (see EUROPE 12628/20). According to a European source, the aim of the meeting is expected to be to “check if the blockage persists” (see EUROPE 12379/13). Several stakeholders hope that Austria’s change of position, which is reportedly now favourable to the text, will make it possible to obtain the majority required for its adoption.
