14/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting on Wednesday 13 January, the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, stressed the importance of taking into account the situation of people with disabilities as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe (see EUROPE 12634/4) with the European Disability Forum (EDF). In this context, he also called for EDF to be further involved in a dialogue with the Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) to guarantee the right to vote for all persons with disabilities. As part of the 10th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, on 22 January, Mr Sassoli will make a public statement to reiterate his assembly’s commitment to defend their rights in its parliamentary work.
