14/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – In October 2018, the highest median gross hourly earnings were recorded in Denmark (€27.2), ahead of Luxembourg (€19.6), while they were only €2.4 in Bulgaria and €3.7 in Romania, according to figures published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Monday 14 December. The highest national median gross hourly wage in euros was eleven times the lowest in Europe. In response to these huge wage disparities, the European Commission recently presented a proposal for a directive to accelerate wage convergence and revitalise social dialogue in Europe (see EUROPE 12591/8).
