14/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – The second Joint Committee of the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Morocco, which met on 8 and 9 December, concluded that the fishing opportunities for 2020 had been satisfactory. The Agreement and its Protocol entered into force on 18 July 2019 (see EUROPE 12300/7). During the meeting, the Parties reviewed the use of fishing opportunities at the end of the first year of the protocol. They concluded that the Agreement has been used satisfactorily, in particular for small pelagic fisheries by industrial trawlers, estimated at around 95% of the fishing possibilities for the year 2020. The EU is making a total financial contribution of €208 million over four years. There are 130 vessels flying the flag of 10 EU Member States fishing in Moroccan waters. (LC)
