14/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 14 December, Irene Tinagli (S&D, Italy), the chair of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) launched a campaign to promote greater involvement of women in finance. In a series of video messages, Tinagli, together with Christine Lagarde, the first female President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Isabelle Schnabel, an ECB Executive Board member, Mairead McGuinness, the first female European Commissioner for Financial Services, and Elke König, Chair of the Single Resolution Board (SRB), call for greater involvement of women in the economic and financial sector at all levels. They stress that gender balance improves the quality of debate and decision-making and call on governments and the European institutions to support women to ensure that they can access the jobs they deserve.
