30/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On 30 October, the European Commission announced humanitarian aid worth €2.51 million for the Philippines, €2 million for Nepal and €3.5 million for the countries of Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, the funds will be used to increase the food security of displaced persons and their access to clean water and sanitation services, while strengthening their protection, education and shelter. In Nepal, the money will be spent on disaster preparedness operations. Finally, for Southeast Asia, which is one of the regions of the world most affected by natural disasters, assistance will focus on strengthening disaster preparedness and response in urban areas. Aid will also be allocated to humanitarian organisations to help them combat the Covid-19 pandemic. (CG)
