30/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 30 October the allocation of €400,000 in humanitarian aid to cover the most urgent needs of civilians affected by the conflict in and around Nagorno-Karabakh. The funds will enable the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Red Cross of Armenia and the Red Crescent of Azerbaijan to deliver food parcels, blankets, hygiene items and other emergency aid to civilians who have been forced to flee because of the hostilities (see EUROPE 12592/36). This funding brings the EU’s emergency humanitarian aid to €900,000 since the outbreak of hostilities in early October. The Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, said he was “extremely concerned about the deterioration of the humanitarian situation, given the upcoming winter and the aggravating coronavirus pandemic”.
