21/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved on Wednesday 21 October the revision of the regulation on rail passenger rights, provisionally approved by the co-legislators in early October (see EUROPE 12572/9). The main new provisions of this revision concern the offer of single tickets (through-tickets) the rights of disabled persons or persons with reduced mobility, reserved bicycle spaces, rerouting of passengers and the force majeure clause concerning compensation for delayed services. The European Parliament’s Transport Committee is expected to vote on the provisional agreement in early November. After that, a vote on the final text in the EU Council and in Parliament will mark the final adoption of this reform. The revised Regulation will enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU and shall apply two years later. (AC)
