21/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – As negotiations between the EU Council, the European Parliament and the Commission resumed on Wednesday 21 October, European Parliament President David Sassoli said he hoped for a “swift” conclusion to discussions on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021–2027 and the Economic Recovery Plan (see EUROPE 12583/6). “The mandate of our negotiators is very clear. We are ready to listen to proposals” (from the German Presidency of the EU Council) “to meet the European Parliament’s ambitions”, he said. The European Parliament is calling for an increase in funding for “programmes that are likely to encounter difficulties in the second part of the MFF”. Mr Sassoli called for a mid-term evaluation of the MFF “with sufficient flexibility so that not even a penny is lost”. “Our negotiators are at work, they will listen and put our proposals back on the table”, he said.
