21/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament called on the EU Council on 21 October to adopt without delay an EU common position on the 2020 review conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The report by Sven Mikser (S&D, Estonia), adopted by 641 votes for to 5 against, with 47 abstentions, calls on States to do their utmost to make further progress in the arms control and nuclear disarmament processes. MEPs encourage these States to redouble their efforts to engage in dialogue among themselves and to continue to work, with renewed commitment, towards the full and balanced implementation of the NPT. All States that have not yet done so must sign and ratify the NPT, they added. See report: https://bit.ly/3oevTFd (CG)
