More than 200 European parliamentarians call on al-Sissi to release prisoners of conscience

21/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a letter dated 21 October, 222 European parliamentarians, including 84 MEPs from the EPP, S&D, Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL, Renew Europe and non-attached groups, from 17 Member States, urged the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, to prioritise the human rights of the detainees and immediately release those whose detention is arbitrary. They also call for an end to reprisals against human rights defenders advocating for the release of political prisoners....
