London about to abandon its national navigation system

Brussels, 25/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – London is reportedly about to re-examine its plans for a national navigation system, according to the specialized site Space Watch and the British newspaper The Telegraph, in articles published on 19 and 22 September respectively. The UK space agency would consider joining the European Galileo system (to which it has made a major contribution). This would be a renunciation of the plan put forward by the former British Prime Minister, Theresa May. The issue of the UK’s place in the EU Space Programme is straining negotiations in the EU Council as negotiations on the future EU-UK partnership fall behind (see EUROPE 12566/8 and 12552/2). (PH)
