EU Council adopts its position on 2021 budget before negotiations with European Parliament

On Wednesday 9 September, the Ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) approved the Council of the EU’s initial position on the 2021 EU draft budget plan (see EUROPE B12555A2).

The Council of the EU’s position for next year’s budget amounts to €162.9 billion in commitments and €164.8 billion in payments.
