Commission approves new geographical indication for Poland

05/08/2020 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 5 August, the European Commission announced the approval of the application to enter the honey 'Miód spadziowy z Beskidu Wyspowego' in the register of protected designations of origin (PDO). Miód spadziowy z Beskidu Wyspowego' is a honey made from honeydew from fir trees in the mountain forests of Beskid Wyspowy in southern Poland. Dark green or brown in colour, it has an intense aroma and a specific scent, reminiscent of resin. It is made exclusively by swarms of bees of the Dobra lineage and owes its quality not only to the exceptional properties of the natural environment but also to the know-how of local beekeepers. This new designation is added to the list of more than 1,480 agricultural products already protected, available in the eAmbrosia database. (LC)
