According to a report published by the European Commission on 7 July, more than 2,200 incidents were reported in 2019 using the EU's rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products (RAPEX).
Toys were the most reported item (29% of incidents reported), followed by motor vehicles (23%) and electrical appliances and equipment (8%).
The most frequently reported hazards related to injuries (27%), chemical components (23%) and choking hazards for children (13%).
