The NGOs Friends of the Earth Europe and Food&Water Action Europe published a report, on Tuesday 7 July, estimating that more than €1 billion in public funds had been granted to the gas industry since 2013 due to a “flaw” in EU legislation.

According to them, the ‘European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas’ (ENTSOG) established by EU law in 2009 to advise the European Commission on energy infrastructure, is in fact an association representing the industrial interests...
