03/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – Polish voters will be called again on 28 June to nominate their president, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, Elżbieta Witek, said on 3 June, according to Reuters. The Polish presidential election was originally scheduled for 10 May, but was postponed due to Covid-19 and the political problems involved in maintaining it (see EUROPE 12482/27). The ruling PiS party was accused of taking advantage of the pandemic and the impossibility of conducting a normal campaign to promote the re-election of Andrzej Duda. The election could include a physical vote and voting by post, several politicians said on 2 June. (SP)
