20/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The new rules on mutual recognition (Regulation 2019/515) of goods legally put on the market in another Member State started to apply throughout the European Union on Sunday 19 April. Under the new rules, companies can complete a voluntary 'mutual recognition declaration' to prove to the competent national authorities that their products are legally marketed in another Member State. If access to a national market is refused, businesses can challenge these decisions through a business-to-business dispute resolution procedure under SOLVIT, the European Commission's relevant network. Finally, improved 'Product Contact Points' must now be established in each Member State. They will provide information on national technical rules online (see EUROPE 12144/6). (PH)
