20/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has chosen to further postpone the closing date of the public consultation on artificial intelligence to give stakeholders more time to respond. While the initial deadline was 19 May, it was extended a first time to 31 May and now to 14 June. As a reminder, this document recommends a risk-based approach, with additional obligations for applications considered the most hazardous (see EUROPE 12429/5). It suggests a prior conformity assessment that could include "testing, inspection or certification procedures" as well as "audits of algorithms and data sets used in the development phase". (SPj)
