07/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a statement, Jean Asselborn, the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, announced that “following a telephone conversation this morning with Georges Koumoutsakos, the Greek Minister Delegate for Migration Policy and Asylum, we have decided, on the strength of successful coordination between the Greek authorities and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), that next week Luxembourg will welcome twelve unaccompanied minors who are currently on the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios”. Ten or so member countries volunteered in early March to take responsibility for about 1600 young migrants. Preparations are also at the most advanced stage in Germany. (SP)
