The European Commission is expecting a large number of contributions by midnight on 27 May from all members of society – citizens, national, regional and local authorities, businesses, trade unions, NGOs – to the public consultation on the planned European Climate Pact.
The European Climate Pact was launched on 4 March, the day the proposal for a 'climate law' was presented, to involve everyone in society to take action on climate change and to help this flagship legislation for the European Green Deal succeed (see EUROPE 12439/2).
The aim of the Climate Pact is to give citizens and stakeholders a voice and a role in designing new pro-climate actions, sharing information, initiating practical activities, and presenting solutions for others to follow.
The Commission says that all sectors of society and the economy have a role to play in the transition to a climate-neutral EU by 2050, along with government policies and regulations, and the Commission is keen to involve them.
All contributions will be taken into account when shaping the initiative, which will be launched before COP26 in Glasgow (9-19 November). To take part in the consultation, go to: http://bit.ly/38DdzN5 (Original version in French by Aminata Niang)
