12/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – Representatives of the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reaffirmed on 10 and 11 February in Brussels the commitment of the two regional organisations to strengthen relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, according to a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS). They discussed how to strengthen this cooperation, in particular on climate change, the circular economy, fair and open trade, maritime safety and cybersecurity. The two sides also discussed the importance of enhancing trade, investment and connectivity, including through the early conclusion of the comprehensive ASEAN-EU Air Transport Agreement, the development of smart cities, the strengthening of dialogue on political and security issues of common interest and the promotion of closer people-to-people connections.
