06/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Caritas Foundation unveiled its latest publication on migration on Tuesday 5 November. This document, which is based on various scientific studies, studies and statistics, details the positive aspects of migration. It consists of 27 recommendations addressed to European legislators and decision-makers. “We hope that the renewal of the European institutions will make a difference”, Shannon Pfohman of Caritas Europe told EUROPE on the sidelines of a conference at the European Parliament with Juan Fernando López Aguilar (S&D, Spain), chair of the Parliament Civil Liberties Committee, and Erik Marquardt (Greens/EFA, Germany), vice-chair of the Development Committee. “But the fact that a significant proportion of decisions take place at the national level, where many maintain a restrictive migration policy, makes it difficult to implement a human-centred approach to migration”, she lamented.
