14/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Union continues to work to secure international support for a Multilateral Investment Court (MIC). It is in the Working Group III of the United Nations Commission on International Trade (UNCITRAL) that the EU and its Member States, which recently submitted a concept paper on this multilateral court, will continue their diplomatic offensive the week of 14 October. They will try to convince their trading partners - the United States and Japan who are still very sceptical. Further meetings are already scheduled for the weeks of January 20 and March 30, 2020. In the meantime, the Commission is finalising its new version of the Investment Court System (ICS), which will be established once the trade agreement with Canada (CETA) has been ratified (see other news).
