14/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – Interinstitutional negotiations on the Regulation on the coordination of social security systems are expected to resume on 22 October, according to our information obtained on Monday 14 October. The information is still to be conditioned, as the Conference of Presidents is due to give its green light on Wednesday 16 October (see EUROPE 12347/5). Once the decision has been taken by the chairmen of the political groups, the negotiations should resume where they failed last March (see EUROPE 12225/15). France has put forward a new proposal to introduce the concept of “equal work, equal contribution” (see EUROPE 12347/5), which, according to many, is unlikely to succeed. Nine Member States (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Poland), including many members of the blocking minority from March, are working on alternative proposals, according to our information.
