26/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – Europol announced on Thursday 26 September that it had participated in the dismantling of an organised criminal group in Greece involved in the trafficking of human eggs, illegal adoptions and money laundering activities. Twelve suspected members of the criminal group have been arrested, and the investigation has identified 10 other members, Europol said in a statement. A total of 66 people are reportedly involved in these cases, including a lawyer, an obstetrician-gynaecologist and employees of private clinics. 13,000 euros in cash, three cars, mobile phones and electronic devices, as well as birth certificates were seized. Europol estimates that the group's criminal activity would have generated at least €500,000. The money was allegedly laundered through financial institutions, luxury goods and property. (MF)
