26/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate on Thursday 26 September the Ministerial Katowice Declaration on Forests for the Climate. At the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Katowice, Poland, from 2 to 14 December 2018, the Ministerial Katowice Declaration on Forests for the Climate was supported by a number of States, including all EU Member States. At the request of one delegation, the EU Council Working Party on Forestry agreed on 4 July 2019 to propose that the EU Council, on behalf of the EU, formally approve the above-mentioned declaration.
