24/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 July, Member States' ambassadors validated the EU's position at the OECD on the draft recommendation on countering illicit trade. The Member States' representatives thus confirmed the agreement reached by their experts on the proposal submitted by the Commission to the EU Council in early July. They also invited the latter to adopt the draft decision at one of its next meetings. An OECD working group is working on countering illicit trade, with a view to developing guidelines to enhance transparency in free trade zones, in order to prevent criminal organisations from taking advantage of them.
