20/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – Journalist Glenda Girón Castro has won the 2019 Lorenzo Natali Grand Prize for her article published in Séptimo Sentido on the impact of HIV on employment opportunities in El Salvador (“La barrera entre el empleo formal y el VIH”). The European Commission awarded her the prize on Wednesday, 19 June, at European Development Days 2019. The Lorenzo Natali Prize rewards journalists whose work advances development, democracy, and human rights issues. The Europe Prize was awarded to Zoé Tabry (Thomson Reuters Foundation) for her article on the climate crisis in Mauritania “As drought keeps men on the road, Mauritania’s pastoralist women take charge”, and the prize for Best Emerging Journalist was awarded to Sébastien Roux (Reporterre) for his article “In Benin, the invasive water hyacinth has also become ‘green gold’”.
