11/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Sunday 9 June, the Greens/EFA announced that German MEP Damian Boeselager, from the pan-European citizen movement Volt, would join their political group in the European Parliament. While the European Parliament's projections after the European elections, based on the structure of the groups existing in the 2014-2019 legislature, initially showed that the Greens/EFA group would consist of 69 parliamentarians for the next mandate, these will reportedly be at least 75. This followed the decision of five MEPs, including from the Czech and German pirate parties, to join this group on 4 June (see EUROPE 12268/29). A few days ago, Mr Boeselager told EUROPE in an interview that he could join either the Greens/EFA group or the ALDE group (see EUROPE 12269/5). It was ultimately Volt supporters who voted to decide which political family Mr Boeselager should join. (LT)
