11/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 June, the EU condemned the attack on the Dogon village of Sobane (central Mali) by armed groups which killed nearly 100 civilians on Sunday and the attack which killed some 20 people in the municipality of Arbinda (northern Burkina Faso) on the same day. In a statement, the spokeswoman of the European External Action Service offered the EU's condolences and recalled that “these abuses against populations can constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity”. She added, “investigations must be conducted immediately and the perpetrators must be brought to justice as soon as possible”. She stresses that it is “urgent that the Malian and Burkinabe authorities redouble their efforts to ensure the protection of the population and commit themselves to the implementation of processes of dialogue and reconciliation with all communities”.
