11/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – The current Vice-President of the Commission in charge of the Euro, Financial Stability and Financial Services, Valdis Dombrovskis, announced on Tuesday 11 June that his government had nominated him as Latvia's European Commissioner in the next Commission. “I will do my outmost [sic] to live up to the trust that the government of Latvia and Latvian voters have shown in me. I will work in the interest of a stronger Europe”, he said on Twitter. Head of the list for the conservative party New Unity which won 26.24%, Mr Dombrovskis was elected as an MEP on 26 May (see EUROPE 12264/3). He is expected to decide next week whether he will complete his term in the Juncker Commission or occupy his seat in the European Parliament until November, a European source confirmed. “There is no decision taken yet, I still have a week or two to make the final decision”, he told the press, according to the Leta agency.
